Abstract
Sinus bone graft is a widely accepted surgical technique to augment the atrophic edentulous posterior maxilla in order to place dental implants. Surgical techniques to perform sinus wall osteotomy with rotary burs have the possibility of perforating the schneiderian membrane during osteotomy. In addition, manual elevation of schneiderian membrane presents the possibility of perforating the sinus membrane. The perforation of sinus membrane can cause sinus infection and graft failure. The new sinus bone graft technique with piezoelectric surgical unit cuts mineralized bony tissue without damaging soft tissue and piezoelectric sinus floor elevator separates sinus membrane without causing perforation. The purpose of this article is to present step by step procedure of new sinus bone graft using piezoelectric surgical unit.
